I invite you to a fabulous in depth exploration of Hungarian music, poetry and prose. The passionate Zoltan Kodaly Duo for violin and cello intermingled with Hungarian tales from the multi award winning poet George Szirtes, most recently awarded the King's Gold Medal for Poetry. After the concert join the drinks party at the Secret Garden for a glass of Hungarian wine.

There will be an opportunity to chat to the artists after the concert if you would like to. Your ticket covers a free drink at a Salle Privée at The Secret Garden (just along the street) shortly after the end of the concert, around 7.15/7.30pm. PAVLO BEZNOSIUK VIOLIN
With a 40-year career spanning music from Mediaeval Europe to contemporary film scores, pioneering the use of Renaissance violins and Lira da Braccio, by way of a globe-trotting career as soloist, chamber musician, concertmaster and director, Pavlo Beznosiuk is one of the UK’s most eclectic violinists, who also recently starred on a Radio Show with his unique choice of classical/prog/rock/jazz.
GEORGE SZIRTES
was born in Hungary, came to England as a refugee. His twelfth book of poem, Reel (2004) won the T. S. Eliot Prize for which he has been twice shortlisted since. His latest is Fresh Out of the Sky. (2021). His memoir The Photographer at Sixteen (2019) was awarded the James Tait Black Prize in 2020. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature, and a co-winner of the International Booker translator’s prize, as well as of numerous others. In 2024 he was awarded the King’s Gold medal for Poetry.
NATASHA HOLMES VIOLONCELLO
Natasha was a prize winning student at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She has played Romantic, Contemporary and Baroque music in The English Chamber Orchestra, City of London Sinfonia, Music Projects London and Norwich Baroque. She was a member of the first British chamber orchestra to tour in Siberia. She has made original recordings of birdsong together with her cello playing in the forests of England. Natasha also gives talks on Historic Costume. Gainsborough Collective are performing curated War and Peace concerts to schools
nationwide.
