The Gainsborough Ensemble

 

Programme:

We are pleased to bring you some more live music this spring which will be a mix of beautiful, fun, interesting and uplifting. A heady mix of birds in English medieval song, songs by Emily Hall, the sublime Hildegard von Bingen, a Venezuelan love duo and Stockhausen on romance.

About the musicians

 

Natasha Holmes, violoncello

Natasha has played Romantic, Contemporary and Baroque music in The English Chamber Orchestra, City of London Sinfonia, Music Projects London and Norwich Baroque. She was a member of the first British chamber orchestra to tour in Siberia. She has made original recordings of birdsong together with her cello playing in the forests of England. Natasha also teaches asylum seekers English and gives talks on Historic Costume.

 

Kate Huggett, Soprano

Specialising in contemporary classical & folk music and experimental performance,  Kate premièred the folk singer role last year in a new opera, Three Lunar Seas, at the Opéra Grand, Avignon. She is about to begin a European tour supporting Cosmo Sheldrake with her vocal ensemble HOWL. Kate also composes for voice and found sound; most recently her radio piece for folk singer and Sizewell nuclear power station was broadcast on BBC Radio 6.

Janna Hüneke, flute

Janna has given many concerts, often with her chamber ensemble Harmoniemusik. Like Pavlo and Natasha, Janna is also to be found in the recording studio, having worked on film sessions, CD’s and a radio programme of music for two flutes. Janna played for Stockhausen in his opera, Montag Aus Licht, as one of three piccolos. She has also trained as a naturopath.
